Medical Recommendations

With your registration for the IWB Basel Marathon you confirm

1. to have taken notice of the medical recommendation and
2. that you are accurately prepared and take part in good shape

With your registration you confirm to have read the following medical recommendation and to have followed them in all conscience.

Please resign joining the "Manor Run to the Beat Basel" in case of the following situations:

  • Feeling ill on the days before the run / the day of the run
  • Suffering from fever or being forced to take antibiotics because of an infect
  • Circulatory problems and breathing difficulties or problems with your body prior to the event day

If you feel ill, have breathing difficulties, feel a dizziness or pressure in your chest or increasing pain in muscles or joints, you should quit running. There is a lot of races but only "one" health.

The events medical personnel are asked to take every runner off the route who shows obvious health problems or has reached the time limit.

The following questionnaire should help you to determine whether you should look for medical examination prior to your activity or not. A preventive examination makes sense if you are between 35 and 60 years. If you are over 60 years and have answered at least one question with "Yes", we recommend such an examination at any rate.

PAR-Q Health-Questionnaire

Please fill out the following questionnaire truthfully

  • Have you ever been told by a doctor, that you do have problems with your heart and should only do sports after medical examination?
  • Have you had unusual pain in your chest in the past 2 months?
  • Have you ever fallen or collapsed because of dizziness or have you ever lost consciousness?
  • Do you have problems with joints or bones which could get worse during physical strain?
  • Have you ever been prescribed medication against high blood pressure or because of heart- or breathing problems?
  • Can you think about any other reason for you not to do any sports without medical examination?
